AI agents, folders and public sharing

Big release this time. The two features we teased in the last update are here, plus something we've been quietly building for a while: AI on your reports.

Ask your reports anything with AI agents

You can now add a conversational AI assistant to your Power BI reports. Your users ask questions about their data in plain language and get instant answers, tables and charts, right next to the report.

A few things worth knowing:

Bring your own key: connect your own AI provider (OpenAI, Azure Foundry, Azure AI or Anthropic), so you stay in control of the model, guardrails and the costs.
Attach agents to reports: configure an agent once and attach it to the reports where it makes sense. There's also a standalone chat view for questions that aren't tied to a single report.
Budgets and usage: set spending budgets per agent and keep an eye on usage from the management screen, so there are no surprises on your AI bill.

This is a big one for us, and we'd genuinely like to hear how it works on your data.

Folders are here

As promised: you can now create folders (and subfolders) within report groups to organize your reports and PDFs. Your users navigate with the new folder tree and breadcrumbs. Large report groups finally stay tidy.

Share reports publicly

Sometimes a report needs to reach people who don't have a DataTako account. With public sharing you can now embed a report through a public link, no login required. You control the layout, and you can regenerate the link at any time to instantly cut off old access. We've also added clearer messages for viewers when a report is temporarily unavailable.

Other changes

Several fixes for Microsoft Entra user sync, including handling of disabled users and a crash when adding new users.
Various improvements to the mobile layout.

Coming up

The DataTako mobile app for iOS and Android is in the final stretch. The mobile improvements above are part of that work. Release date is coming soon.
